Safeguarding our children and nurturing them in all aspects of their development so that they are equipped for adult life

Welcome to

Danai Childrens Home Website

About us

Danai was founded in 2002 by the late Francisca Saungweme. Our house in Sunridge, Harare is currently home to 25 children aged 2-18. Danai is distinguished by its family feel; our children interact as a family and fill the house with music and laughter. Several of our children are doing well at school and others have shown talent at sport, music and art. Together, our children form an exuberant choir.

How you can help us

We are fortunate to have generous sponsors who provide food, clothing, some school fees, GP and pharmacy services, legal counsel and many other cash and in kind donations. However, we still need help with the remaining school fees and medical expenses, shoes, uniforms, books, wages, utilities, maintenance etc. Sponsorship, donations of products and services or other forms of partnership are always appreciated

Our Projects

We are committed to becoming as self-sustaining as possible. We are already keeping rabbits and are starting an ECD. These projects are currently recouping start up costs but are expected to yield a beneficial income in 2017. We also partner with sponsors in fundraising projects.

Our History

Danai is duly registered by the Ministry of Labour and Social Services in terms of Section 31 of the Children’s Act (Chapter 5:06).
