Our History

23rd December 2015

Danai Children’s Home was founded by Mrs. Francesca Saungweme in 2002. Danai is duly registered by the Ministry of Labour and Social Services in terms of Section 31 of the Children’s Act (Chapter 5:06). The institution was established with the aim of helping to alleviate the plight of orphans and other vulnerable children. Her daughter, Patience Chipaumire acknowledged the work that her mother was doing and donated her house to be used as premises for the home.

The New Generation Trust had also acknowledged the work that she had been doing for the children at Danai Children’s Home. There by awarding her an honorarium/ a certificate of appreciation to Mrs Francisca Saungweme in March of 2015.

Danai children’s home will continue running as a place of safety for the vulnerable. It will maintain its Christian values. Future plans include re-registration as a foundation trust with a fully functioning board of Trustees. Patience Chipaumire has assumed the role of home Principal and will maintain an ariel view and ensure continuity of the vision. A very special thank you to our donors, sponsors, friends of Danai and the community at large for their continued support.
